Connect Vanta to ChatGPT
Give ChatGPT governed access to Vanta through Runlayer, with identity, policy, scanning, and audit on every call.
Set up
Add Vanta to ChatGPT in four steps
Admins approve the server once. Everyone in ChatGPT then gets it through the same governed connection.
- 1
Approve Vanta in Runlayer
Add Vanta from the catalog and choose who can use it and which of its tools are allowed.
- 2
Connect ChatGPT to Runlayer
Admins publish the Runlayer Plugin and its skill to the whole ChatGPT organization. With direct tool listing turned on for your deployment, Vanta’s tools show up in ChatGPT’s own tool list.

Sign in to Vanta
An admin adds Vanta credentials to Runlayer once. They never sit in the client’s configuration.
- 4
Use Vanta from ChatGPT
Vanta’s approved tools appear in ChatGPT. Every call is checked against policy and recorded.
Tools
Vanta tools in ChatGPT
Vanta reports its tools when your organization connects it, so the list depends on your deployment.
Control
What Runlayer can see and stop in ChatGPT
Some controls apply to every client at the gateway. Others depend on what ChatGPT exposes to Runlayer.
Gateway policy (available)
Every Vanta call from ChatGPT passes through Runlayer, where your policies can allow, alert, mask, or block it.
Audit trail (available)
Each call is recorded with the user, ChatGPT as the client, the tool, and the policy and scanner decisions.
Compliance API import (available)
OpenAI Compliance Logs Platform imports ChatGPT web chats for review.
Managed browser extension (available)
Managed Chrome, Edge, and Firefox deployments can monitor supported web-chat activity and apply prompt-time controls where the surface permits it.
Native enforcement adapter (not available)
Runlayer has no device-side adapter for ChatGPT yet, so control happens at the gateway.
